Air Date:

JOHN BATCHELOR SHOW
Co-hosts: Sebastian Gorka, Fox; and Malcolm Hoenlein, Conference of Presidents

Hour One
Thursday 5 September 2019/ Hour 1, Block A: Devin Nunes,  House Intelligence Committee, Ranking Member: The RICO civil suit filed in Eastern District of Virginia federal court against many parties, prominently Glenn Simpson of FusionGPS, which specializes in smear campaigns; it worked for DNC, Russian oligarchs, and people close to Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, inter al.
Working for or with Fusion GPS, the “Campaign for Accountability” hire people in media; against Devin, they weaponized the ethics process, three times in 2018.  “They targeted my wife, a schoolteacher,” done by some fellow in Los Angeles.  The group brought in over $2 mil, of which  $140,000 went to FusionGPS. Who funded this group? They made ethics complaints against me based on allegations that only FusionGPS could know of. Close to these groups was the Clinton campaign. Anyone involved with FISA warrants, the Russian hoax – anyone in that realm might wish for quiet and donate to the Campaign for Accountability.
Thursday 5 September 2019/ Hour 1, Block B:  Sebastian Gorka, America First radio,  & author, Why We Fight, in re: In HK, a relatively small number of demonstrators, all unarmed, have forced Beijing to stand down. Khrushchev’s 1956 “secret speech” in March saying openly that Stalin was a monster opened the way for Hungary and Poland to rebel in October. Freedom for a glorious ten days until the Soviet creature sent in tanks to crush the freedom fighters.  Thirty years later, the Soviet Union ceased to be, leading directly to independence for the Baltics, East Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
When Pres Trump’s said, “No more theft from us” to Xi Jinping, did that open the door for liberation movements in Hong Kong?  Finally, America is back and is not kowtowing to the unelected tyrants of Beijing.  Note that the Hong Kong demonstrators frequently sing the Star-Spangled Banner, and the sign on a balcony, “Make Hong Kong great again.”
Hong Kong is a petri dish of what happens when people are able/allowed to claim freedom.
There has to be a global reset of relations with this nation using egregious methods to steal. For the US, this is above all a matter of national security
Thursday 5 September 2019/ Hour 1, Block C: Victor Davis Hanson, Hoover and Stanford; in re:  Universities:  From Icon to Just a Con, via American Greatness

The damage that the modern university has wrought has now outweighed its once-positive role.

  . . . . We don't need 18 million Americans in college right now.

Thursday 5 September 2019/ Hour 1, Block D:  Bret Ahrends,   ; in re:  Boris Johnson’s younger brother Joe Johnson has just resigned from Parliament in objection to his older brother’s “heavy-handedness.”  A very embarrassing move for BoJo; who compounded it with a Trumpian photo op up north.  Another bad day for him.  Labour is trailing in the polls because of Jeremy Corbyn. Possibility of another general election; if after October 31, could leave the EU without a deal.  Political chaos reminiscent of the Eighteenth Century.  Arsenal vs Tottenham.  Mark McKinnon:  metanarrative  - the general, overall picture people are getting.

Hour Two
Thursday 5 September 2019/ Hour 2, Block A:  New York Police Department  Commissioner James O'Neill, in re: Security. The day I began, we had a bombing. Fortunately, we solved it [quickly]. We work with the Joint Terrorist Task Force, the State Police, and multiple other agencies. We just stopped another act of violence this week, a young man in Queens.  I get briefed once or twice a week; I pay attention each and every day. . . .  While serious crime is down, certain hate crimes are up: 40.5% (288 from 205); 150 are anti-Semitic. (Most are graffiti.) We have 24 detectives on this task force. We have this level of vigilance 365 days a year.  . . .  Arrests are up this year.  How it is to walk the streets late at night in New York: always a feeling of security because of the police patrols.

James P. O'Neill was appointed the 43rd police commissioner of the City of New York by Mayor Bill de Blasio in September 2016. He had served previously as chief of department, the NYPD's highest uniformed rank. He was instrumental in developing neighborhood policing, which is renewing and recasting the NYPD's patrol function to provide greater police and community interaction and collaboration. Police Commissioner O'Neill began his law enforcement career in 1983.
Thursday 5 September 2019/ Hour 2, Block B:  Blaise Misztal, in re: Idlib offensive, Kurdish mayors, Russian jets.  A freeze in Moscow over ice cream? – Erdogan and Rouhani to meet there again.  “The world is bigger than five” – the five nuclear powers in the Security Council.
Erdogan has removed of three Kurdish mayors in Turkey, but 88 municipal officials overall. He’s trying to provoke the Kurds to take to the streets and perhaps into violence, in order to gin up support from his base. It's the presence of three million Syrian refugees that’s causing real problems; he’s trying to find somewhere to put them.    Abdullah Gul: everyone’s waiting for him to stand up against Erdogan, which he does not do. Davutoglu has an ego bigger than Erdogan’s, so he might rise to the occasion – for all the wrong reasons.  . . .

Blaise Misztal is a Fellow at Hudson Institute. His research program focuses on the Middle East, Europe, and strategic competition. Most recently, Misztal served as the Executive Director of the Task Force on Extremism in Fragile States, a congressionally mandated project convened by the U.S. Institute of Peace.
Thursday 5 September 2019/ Hour 2, Block C: David Daoud (Lebanon/Hezbollah).
Hezbollah is an organization that uses terror among many methods to gain power, including [an enormous] global economy.  Iran seems to be sending it $800 million per year; we don't know the various transfer methods.
