JOHN BATCHELOR SHOW
Co-host: Thaddeus McCotter, American Greatness

Hour One
Monday 9 March  2020  / Hour 1, Block A: Tom Joscelyn, Senior Fellow, Foundation for Defense of Democracies; & Senior Editor for FDD's Long War Journal; and Bill Roggio, Long War Journal and FDD; in re: The Taliban—the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan— statement and that of the US are wildly inconsistent.  Taliban is not required to enter any kind of transition or joint government.  “This Islamic government is to be led by Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada, its current emir, and ‘lawful ruler’ of Afghanistan. The Taliban fatwa says the group ‘shall continue waging armed jihad’ until it establishes the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.”  Uneven prisoner swap before even one minute of talks: Afgh govt has to release up to 5,000 prisoners in exchange for 1,000 to be released by Taliban, as negotiated by the State Department.  . . .  There’s a lot of wish-casting by the American negotiators; if you read the Taliban documents, the US side is, frankly, delusional.  Provincial capitals: as soon as the US leaves, Taliban won’t waste much manpower, will move swiftly and succeed.  The Afghan government is being thrown under the bus.

Monday 9 March  2020  / Hour 1, Block B: Tom Joscelyn, Long War Journal and FDD; and Bill Roggio, Long War Journal and FDD; in re: The Afghan govt seems to buckle under an  pressure; the money flows into corrupt officials who line their pockets. Kabuki theater leads to their demise.  ISIS:  An ethnic Hazara political figure whom ISIS murdered.  US withdrawal in the form intended is a humiliation to the US.  Expect a rally in a city  after US leaves, a major recruiting celebration. Al Q has backed Taliban and vice-versa since 9/11.  Innovative ways to kill Westerners, Muslims, Americans.
Monday 9 March  2020  / Hour 1, Block C: Gordon Chang, Daily Beast, in re: Until recently, 22,000 Chinese people a day travelled to the US.  The people of China haven’t even been told the facts about how widespread the Wuhan plague is.  This is how the CCP deals with disasters.  The Global Times as the WSJ of China.   . . .   The US put all its money on one chip, and lost.  Fifty thousand tier one suppliers, plus their downstream suppliers.  We need no longer to permit this dependence.  President Trump has been saying this since Day One. The FT: Chinese unleashed a torrent of anger  after some official said it’d be necessary to have a “gratitude education” so people can be suitably grateful to Xi Jingping for his fabulous leadership.  Fury in response!
Totalitarianism is so stupid. And Chinese people aren’t only angry, they’re defiant.
