Rahm in a Dinner Jacket.
White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, known as Rahmbo to his rivals, is the power behind the throne of the presidency. The Washington Post's Dana Milbank argues that the only way the president can solve the healthcare bill is to listen to the advice of the dapper and fiery Rahm Emanuel. (Modest puzzle as to who was the souce for the Milbank praise of Rahm Emanuel.) So why is there a whispering campaign that Rahm Emanuel's days are numbered at the White House? The Republicans have long refused to take Rahm Emanuel's phone calls. But now Washington think-tank New America Foundation, the Progressive brainiac behind healthcare, says that what's wrong with the White House is Rahm Emanuel. Is this the end of Rahm Emanuel? Can no one save the chief of staff? How about the president? Nope. Rahmbo in winter. The fun new pool in Washington is to pick the day that Rahm Emanuel is thrown under the bus. Place your money and take your choice. Gambling on the Last Days of Rahm Emanuel?... Shocked, shocked..."

At this point the GOP should do nothing, Praise for Rahm would be interpreted as False Praise. Letting the Dems tear at each other creates dissent in the party and factions.
Recent death of General Al Haig is morbidly timely, Both were WHCOS with anger issues.

Second that. When your enemy is self destructing, sit back and enjoy the show. Save your ammo for another day. Why run the risk of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory? It has always been the case that the Democrats are the seed of their own destruction. What other end could come from a collection of special interests with grievances?
Question is can the Republicans actually focus on a coherent message based on ideals and principles? The Libertarians have a coherent message based on ideals and principles if only they could get the pot-legalizers to go away, or at least shut up until after the election. Here's hoping that the tea party irregulars figure out how to make their clout felt.
I am confused by John's use of the word "powerful". How can one who is considered "powerful" be "thrown under the bus"? Could anyone have imagined Bush throwing Cheney under the bus for any reason?
Admittedly, there are (what are commonly referred to as) the “levers of power” of which the Obama administration appears to be in full control. These, however, have ceased to be connected to anything substantial. They are merely there to animate the skeletal remains of some long-buried East German trope. Without active involvement and support of the public, all this Washington posturing and horse trading means nothing. And polls show that a full 80% of the American people are either distrustful or categorically opposed to where the party in (so-called) ‘power’ is taking us.
Obama, as leader of that party, may succeed (third-world, Noriega-style) in greasing the skids toward some kind of Marxist brand of socialism. In the process, he may even be tempted to congratulate himself for having destroyed America’s productive private sector; democracy itself; discredited history, capitalism; doomed accomplishment and freedom of expression while promoting mediocrity and failure in the name of ‘social justice’. But he would be fooling himself.
The reason all these uniquely American traits seemingly lie dormant just now is not because of what Obama has contrived but because of our own free will we’ve put on the brakes and are holding our collective breath - not in a nod to environmentalism, but - in protest of Obama’s outrageous anti-American policies. Once Obama has been disposed of in the trash bin of history, you will see all that America holds precious come roaring back to life even stronger and more vital than it has been in years.

We know the coda is in sight when the encomiums start popping up. Good job, Brownie!
