Vs. Confederate Fakes.
Bill Roggio, Long War Journal, posts this video of a small piece of a two hour presentation by General David Petraeus of CENTCOM re the Iraq conflict and the well-documented and unchanged aggression of Tehran against the US forces. Setting aside the logic of Petraeus's remarks -- that Tehran is making war on the US while the Obama administration continues to entreat Tehran to an appeasement deal on nukes and the Gulf -- consider David Petraeus as a presidential candidate. The Union candidate. The warrants are political, not military. By fall 2010, after the Congressional elections, the US will be struggling under the second full year of a jobless recovery after the longest recession since 1945. No administration can bear up under the jobless numbers that are projected now -- and the joblessness is intimately connected to the housing market crash that may last six years. Meanwhile, the GOP, a fractured, simpering, self-satisfied, clumsy, demagogic job fair of Confederate fakes and sore losers, will be searching for candidates to run in 2012. The stated choices as of now are Romney, Huckabee and Palin. Only in comparison to a cartoon Democratic candidate, half Lenin and half Goofy, does this trio of personality celebrities compete credibly. Consider Petraeus in the game. Will the war be concluded by New Year's 2011? Will Tehran be tamed by appeasement? Will Iraq and Afghanistan be quiet? Will Jerusalem be divided neatly into Hamas and Fatah and the Jews, all attending street festivals? Consider Petraeus.

David Petraeus certainly is an attractive choice. Whether or not he could achieve anything significant from outside the political power structure remains to be seen. I can't see him running as a Democrat. As a Republican, he is certain to be absolutely savaged; remember, (betray us).
Like it or not, the press holds the key (as it did last election). The American people have not distinguished themselves in the art of critical thinking. Yes, Obama will make them hurt, but they will eat whatever is put in front of them (by the press). The question remains: Will the press turn on Obama?
Don't count Obama out either. He is taking steps right now in his own right to secure a second term (and possibly a third and beyond), tightening his grip on power. I have no doubt that any, and all things possible - even the race card - will be used aggressively to pursue Obama's ambition. The party will remain solidly behind him no matter how badly his policies fare, or how outrageous his methods.
The public is no longer in the running. I've said it before, that when a government takes charge of everything, there’s no longer any standard by which to judge success or failure. No matter what happens, it will be chalked up as the dear leader's blessing.
Our hero demagogue will be difficult to unseat. This will become apparent in the next election cycle. I am certain that Obama has no intentions of moving even an ounce of furniture in his lifetime. In his view, the Constitution is a living, breathing putty animation that can be re-drawn to suit. With the Congress and, most importantly, the courts and the press in his back pocket, he cannot fail.
The Obama nation is here to stay. Get used to it!
As in most of Peter's points of discussion herein, I depart from his insistence that Obama is omnipotent and that "The American people have not distinguished themselves in the art of critical thinking."
Most recently we have seen evidences of the withering of the dithering by all sides, zealot and skeptic, while coming to realize that the new PotUS himself professes to be fallible, worthy of scrutiny, and really just a man. According to some, repeated time and time again in sometimes derogatory and spiteful ways, or by others so sincere that one might envision palm fronds being placed in his path, the Lord of New Think had finally arrived to possess and deliver. Just one thing though... he certainly doesn't believe it.
He has always known that for him to take the Presidency is as fine a historical moment as ever has been or ever will be and that is sufficient. I'm sure he's had some big laughs with some of these insinuations and he has been touched by the heartfelt pleas and admonitions. I'm sure he has gotten angry as anyone, too, and felt helpless when faced with the immensity of the tasks. After all, he's just a man, albeit, a new man with the charge of representing a new generation for the United States of America.
As these experiments of the new school of thought are tested at home and abroad, we watch and we do think critically. It may be that all of government has never before been so critically viewed. If we don't like what we see, we make it known through our democracy.
And we have some old school people we can thank for that right!!
For sure, I would like to see the good General consider politics as a retirement plan.
Which is the greater compliment to this 'just a man'? Is it to say, 'He's screwing up?' or, is it to say, 'He knows exactly what he's doing. And he's doing it?'
This is where you and I differ, my friend. I think this 'just a man' knows exactly what he's doing, and is doing it. There's nothing historical about it (unless you feel that the color of a man's skin qualifies as historicity - I don't.)
As time goes by, my take will become increasingly evident. Indeed, a lot of people have seen the light already. Others won't admit it yet, but they know something is terribly wrong.
If you really want to know, Bush was 'just a man'. Obama is no Bush. He is a dangerous ideological demagogue.
I stand by my comments... and would add there's much more to historicity than what anyone might infer to know.
The current PotUS could very well be one of the brightest ever to be seated. Just because he has uncanny energy and exudes unrepentant confidence doesn't necessarily signal that there is a some monster thin lurking nefariously in the shadows waiting to devour. We are very capable of doing it ourselves without any help from anyone. Agree?
I think Mr B is on point with the "Twilight Zone" references.
Obama in 3-D... it's a learned and studied skill. Adolphus?
Ours is to try to understand and agree or disagree
Peter, are you saying you absolutely know exactly what is going on in these days and that you have shown the light of right to some people and they have recognized it and that eventually everyone will come into the light?
Just wondering...
Spence – Let me say from the outset that I would be much happier writing about sunrises over the Bay of Bengal or a thousand other astounding minutias of Asian exotica. Unfortunately, the political landscape in America has changed so dramatically since Obama’s election; it’s sucked all the air out of normal concerns. I'm not showing anything to anybody. I'm like you: I observe and try to articulate what I see.
You do the same, but the Zeitgeist has overtaken you. You’re seeing it all alright, but you refuse to connect the dots. That’s because the picture that emerges is so egregious, so alien to anything we’ve come to expect, we instinctively recoil from it and say, “This is America; and it can’t happen here.” But it’s already happened. Check out the backgrounds of the new science and climate czars. Read what just one of them has written.
When a man is fatally shot, it usually still takes a little time for him to die. During this time, we still hold out hope that he will live. We tell him, “Hang in there, old buddy. The ambulance is on its way.”
This is where we find ourselves today: waiting for the ambulance. Only, the ambulance is not coming. The shooter is driving the ambulance and he has no intention of returning to the scene of the crime.
We all know instinctively that there’s no ambulance on the way. Some of us (you, for instance) still have the audacity to hope.
I believe that America has seen nothing yet. Things will get worse. And the reason it’ll get worse is because what is being done is deliberate.
We’ve fixed it so that there are no longer any checks and balances in the system. The government is going full tilt in a singular direction. The only thing left to stop them is the people themselves. That can’t be good.
I guess there are some that might be convinced to believe in fairy tales, but, mostly because they just want to believe in fairy tales.
Like I said, push back and tug'n pull. Nothing new here... how is it where you are? Sounds lovely.
The Prez proposes and hopes Congress disposes of it quickly.
