Metropolitan Police stopped and seized this vehicle on the streets of London on April Fool's Day. It was enroute to join the protesters. They arrested everyone inside the vehicle. Yes. An armored personnel carrier painted blue. Love the Bobby checkers. Fooled me. What is anarchy? This is competitive with (above) Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. I was asked this evening, "Is there any good news?" No. The G20 apparatus exists inside a ceremony of logical denial. The protesters are sophisticated, well-fed, entertaining, not unattractive and have easy access to surplus military equipment inside London. The American POTUS travels in a grotesque armored vehicle that was manufactured by the same General Motors that was just destroyed as a free enterprise by the American POTUS. Meanwhile, the worldwide numbers are flashing the same warning. Lower. This relentless, unironic foreshadowing makes the missile in North Korea appear a flippant novelty. What is anarchy? Colleague of mine went to the G7 as a "crunchy" protester in Seattle, the mother of all anarchist demonstrations. He was missing for over a week!
NPR this morning asked folks to call in with suggestions for the protesters' signs. No one seemed honest enough to suggest something like "Capitalism: Thanks to it, we have the time and wealth to protest it" or "I don't know what I'm protesting, I'm just here to break something"
Anon - You are right to point the finger at education. What the West has managed to do to its educational system is outright suicidal. As someone once said, it's akin to a nuclear attack on the nation itself. Spencer will scoff at this, but I believe it became a part of the plan to subjugate the West; thus, education became one of the first 'ropes' by which western capitalism would hang itself, as V. I. Lenin predicted.
