Medvedev's Bin Laden

Umarov's threats to the FSB and to Putin's and Medvedev's authority are substantial and active. The Dagestan attack in March was sophisticated, with a VBIED across the street from an FSB HQ and then a suicide vest-wearing impostor in an FSB officer's uniform infiltrating the police line to kill as many as possible. Umarov calls himself the Emir of the Caucasus. This is the face of radical jihad in Russia. Fred Burton, Stratfor, identifies Umarov as Putin's Bin Laden. An explanation for why the Kremlin will keep Tehran intact is that Russia needs radical Shias (the Twelvers) to block the jihadists of the Arabian Gulf.
