What is the explanation for why the US ops did not search the US Visa data base for Omar Farouk Abdulmutallab's name after his father warned them of his son's suspicious travels and nature on November 19? A telephone call, an email, a heads up, all would have done it. There is not yet an explanation. If the name is trouble, check for its Visa. Simple. This isn't about policy or even procedure. This is about US slackers giving a pass to a Nigerian slacker.
This case confirms a pattern of inattention to detail. We've seen it with the White House crashers incidents; we've seen it with ad hoc bowing and dead end policy pronouncements. We've seen it as a part of a larger trend that brought raw inexperience to the most powerful office in the land.
Schools no longer stress detail in spelling, grammar and math. Historical detail is obsolete as well, unless it can be used to make an ideological point; ditto, science.
