It is a treat to listen to Politco's earnest, smart, youthful, process-focused writers and editors and realize that they do not have time to ask why -- they only have enough of the day to ask what happened. Why healthcare by the end of the year? Because POTUS said so? Because SOTU steps on January? Because 2010 is elections? Because the 60 votes do not exist without a miracle? Because Hollywood loves a clock for the third act? Note that at the close of the video, there is mention of a jobs bill in the House. The House Democrats are haunted by the joblessness. It makes the House a one-way ticket to Palookaville -- and that is even ignoring the healthcare folly and the cap and trade delusions. A trillion dollars for stimulus 1, and now we need another trillion to bribe people to hire. What does healthcare have to answer joblessness? When you are out of work, you skip the dentist, you ignore the doctors, you get by without worrying about your meds refills, you dose the children with generics, you stall the 90 day overdues from the pediatrician and the mammograher. And if you have a heart problem, you pray and fade. Healthcare without a job? Vote?
The 'why' is implicit. The 'why' is what got Obama elected in the first place. It is to give this messiah another victory; another boost to his resume; another notch in his belt to demonstrate his prowess and, more importantly, our good sense in handing this reverse Kurtz our country as well as our very lives, and the lives of our children for generations to come. His sole mandate has always been to deliver us from the fiendishly crafted sins of greedy success; and, above all, from the charge of racism and to lift the yoke of bottomless guilt from our spineless backs and set us soaring once again – this time, in the purity of spiritual skies. It is a mandate that represents no less than the now certain promise of our own salvation; and, as such, must not be impeded at any cost. Who would have thought that two millennia would still not be enough to erase the stain of having killed Jesus? We must on no account risk it again.
